The Centennial Tour Series was created to showcase UTEP’s rich history throughout the University’s Centennial Celebration in 2014. Each month, a new tour will focus on a different aspect of UTEP. For October, the Centennial Office has partnered with the UTEP Student Alumni Association to present the “Haunted UTEP” Walking Tour and Haunted House.
With a campus that is nearly 100 years old, there have been many ghostly stories reported over the years. Stops on the tour will include some of those places on campus where strange activity is rumored to have occurred. Tours will be conducted by members of the Student Alumni Association.
Multiple tours will be offered between 7 and 11 p.m. Thursday Oct. 23 and Friday, Oct. 24. Interested participants should arrive at the UTEP Alumni Lodge and line up for the next available tour between those hours. Each tour will last approximately 45 minutes to an hour. The tour is not recommended for children under the age of 11.
The tour is a fundraiser for the Student Alumni Association. Tickets are $8 and $10 in advance and $10 and $15 on the day of the tour. Advanced tickets can be purchased at the Peter and Margaret De Wetter Center (Alumni Relations Office), located on University Avenue, next to Leech Grove.
A FREE TOUR will be offered on Saturday, Oct. 25, starting at 11 a.m. This abridged tour will be open to people of all ages. It will begin and end at the Alumni Lodge and will not include the Haunted House.
