Free UTEP Walking Tour This Weekend

By: Tricia Martinez

UTEP has been around for one hundred years, but most people only drive past it on the freeway, or only see a little bit of the campus when they go to football or basketball games. This weekend, you’re going to get the chance to see so much more of UTEP than you probably ever have.

If you ever wondered who decided we needed an institution of higher learning in what was, essentially, a Wild West town, or why UTEP has Bhutanese architecture throughout their campus, then this weekend’s walking tour is for you.

The walking tour kicks off at 11 o’clock Saturday morning at the Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts, and will showcase themes like how and why UTEP was founded, and how and why Bhutanese architecture was chosen for the buildings on campus. The tour is free, but you’ll need to bring your own water, and don’t forget to wear sunscreen and probably a hat to keep the sun off you during the walk between buildings.

WHAT: Free Walking Tour Of UTEP
