Special UTEP Women’s Basketball Season to Be Celebrated on Saturday

EL PASO, TEXAS- The 2013-14 UTEP women’s basketball team captured El Pasoans’ hearts with a march to 29 wins and the championship game of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament (WNIT).  On Saturday, fans are invited to join the Miners for a postseason celebration in front of the library on the UTEP campus.

Coach Keitha Adams and the team will be on hand from 10:30 a.m. – noon, signing autographs and taking pictures.  Fans can also be photographed alongside the WNIT runner-up trophy, and complimentary “We’re All Winners!” posters saluting the team, its achievements and the city’s support will be distributed.

It’s all a part of UTEP’s first-ever Open House, which runs Thursday through Saturday (April 10-12) as part of UTEP’s Centennial Celebration.  For more information visit UTEP100Years.com/openhouse.

Led by El Paso native Kayla Thornton, the Miners (29-8) tied school and Conference USA records for wins in a season.  They also established school standards for field goals (955), three-pointers (218), free throws (697), points (2,825), points per game (76.4), rebounds (1,606), offensive rebounds (577), assists (542) and steals (355).

Free parking for Saturday’s event is available in the Schuster and Sun Bowl parking garages.
