Where: Room 116 in UTEP’s Undergraduate Learning Center on Wiggins Road
A 10-minute video that traces the life of UTEP’s M.B.A. program from its humble beginnings to its current award-winning status will be the focal point of the program’s 40th anniversary celebration that starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in the University’s Undergraduate Learning Center.
The video includes testimonials from members of the first Master of Business Administration cohort and students from different decades who have benefitted from the available M.B.A. formats – full-time, executive and accelerated. It will finish on a high note with references to the national and international accolades the program has earned in the past five years for its innovative curriculum, expanded outreach, recruitment efforts, diverse faculty and level of student support. The latest recognition came earlier this month when Hispanic Business Magazine ranked the program #1 for the fourth year in a row.
“It speaks to the evolution of the program. You get the sense (from the video) of the program’s tremendous growth, but that the original vision and goals are not too different,” said Laura Uribarri, assistant dean for M.B.A. programs. She collaborated with UTEP’s Institute of Oral History to conduct the interviews and oversaw the video’s production. “Despite our growth, we know that we still have a lot to do.”
Organizers expect about 200 people to attend, mostly M.B.A. alumni along with family, friends and College of Business Administration faculty and staff. The program will include brief remarks from Robert Nachtmann, D.B.A., dean of the college, and University President Diana Natalicio. The guests will see the video in Room 116 and enjoy the rest of the celebration in the center’s rotunda.
Commemorative light-blue, long-sleeved Oxford shirts with the M.B.A. 40th anniversary logo will be sold for $40 on site.
If you plan to attend, organizers recommend you RSVP at email@example.com to get parking permit information.
The celebratory video can be seen at mba.utep.edu starting Tuesday, Oct. 1.
