Koryn Rolstad: Lecture on ‘Mandala Sunrise’ Public Art Installation
Wednesday, October 29, 2014
Rubin Center Auditorium, 12:00 – 1:00 pm

Artist Koryn Rolstad will be giving a lecture on her public art piece, “Mandala Sunrise,” that is located at Sun Bowl Drive and Glory Road at the UTEP. The work consists of dozens of upright pipes towering over the roundabout decorated with hundreds of colorful resin wings. According to Rolstad, the piece “celebrates the unique and remarkable blending of cultures embodied by University of Texas at El Paso’s special relationship and partnership with the Kingdom of Bhutan.” UTEP’s architecture is modeled after the fortresses in the Kingdom of Bhutan, where the majority of the population practices Buddhism.

The Centennial Office is located in room 403 of UTEP's Administration Building. Contact us at (915) 747-5362 or 2014@utep.edu.
