21st Century Scholars Program

By on January 13, 2014

The UTEP Century Scholars represent the best of untapped, high-potential talent at the University.  The 100 students named as Century Scholars are engaged in a day of programming that emphasizes essential career skills including communicating in a professional setting, networking, self-promotion and working in a collaborative environment.  The day of programming includes opportunities for the students to:

  • practice communication skills
  • conduct self-awareness exercises
  • network with professionals from across different industries
  • formally present to high-level campus leaders
  • participate in a case study exercise with prominent faculty members
  • contribute to UTEP’s Centennial Celebration planning

Following this day of programming, the Century Scholars are invited to participate in campus engagement activities and other career and leadership development programming including the opportunity to apply for fellowships at the state and national level.  Scholars are selected by Deans, faculty and staff on the basis of academic achievement, community engagement and ability to have a positive campus impact.

Jessica Molinar Muñoz is the director of communications for UTEP's Centennial Office.
